What powertrain options are available?

Ford offers four different powertrain sets to give life to its new 2020 Explorer. With the Base, XLT and Limited trim levels, you will find standard a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine that pushes out 300 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque which outperforms most other modern-day crossover SUVs. If you are looking for a hybrid powertrain, Ford offers a 3.3-liter V6/electric-motor hybrid that clocks out an improved 318 hp and 322 lb-ft of torque and has an estimated range of 500 miles. With the Platinum trim, you will find a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that churns out 365 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque. With the ST trim, Ford takes the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 and modifies it for a performance-tuned output with a higher 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. Each powertrain comes paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission.

What are the trim levels offered with the 2020 Explorer?

At the Base trim level we see Ford bringing in a great line-up of features coming standard with the 2020 Explorer including 18-inch wheels, LED front headlights, dual-zone automatic temperature control, driver information display on the dashboard, an eight-way adjustable powered driver’s seat, 40/20/40-split second-row seats with 50/50-split seats in the very back for more storage flexibility, a rearview camera, powered liftgate and more. The Base Explorer also comes equipped with a full infotainment system around an 8-inch touchscreen display with two USB ports, smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Audio, and a six-speaker sound system. The Limited and Limited Hybrid trims build off of the XLT and Base trim kits while also including larger 20-inch wheels, a hands-free liftgate, driver’s seat memory functions, auto-dimming mirrors, power-folding rear seats, and ventilated front seats. The ST brings in more features focussed on performance and design elements while the Platinum trim offers more with adaptive headlights, a two-piece sunroof, and updated leather interior design.
